Do you like Sid Meier’s Civilization?
Do you like polygonal designs?
Battle of Polytopia sates both of those thirsts on your mobile device. The game plays as a turn-based strategy game, where you either earn as many points as you can before the end of 30 turns or you battle your enemies until they no longer stand before you.
With 15 different tribes to choose from, you will have to adopt new strategies each time you play with some strategies more drastic than others to accomodate the differences in tribes.

The game keeps the idea of Civilization simple and does not require a high learning curve to master the “ins and outs” of the combat/town-building gameplay. You simply use the squares around each town as efficiently as possible while, at the same time, defending your towns from intruders or assaulting your neighbors for their more bountiful towns.

The game does not last as long as a usual Civ game which makes it perfect for mobile. A longer game might be a reason people lose interest as we are a generation who lack a long attention span. Fortunately with this game, you are constantly facing new challenges from your enemies and your environment each time you play.

Multiplayer is available too! I have family all over the world and we keep in contact through this game and we also may fall apart as a family unit because yoU SHOULD NOT BE INVADING MY AREA RIGHT NOW. WE HAD A TREATY. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
Advertisements and in-app purchases
The game does not have any ads for other apps on it! It’s only monetary gain is from purchasing various tribes. You start with four: Xin-Xi, Imperius, Bardur and Oumaji. The other eleven are available for purchase.
Pop-up ads/5 mins=0
Automatically makes itself a more appealing game by this ome simple fact alone.Multiplayer is only available after the purchase of a bonus tribe.
The tribes are inexpensive with the most expensive being $4.99 and the least being $0.99
Music and Sounds
The actions taken by the warriors or other units make some satisfying sounds to listen to. The music is simple and really plays into the whole aesthetic of the game. It does start playing music when you boot it up so be warned when you are at the office unless you have an office game going with your boss playing as Luxidoor.

Final Review
There are a few minor drawbacks about the game, specifically it’s multiplayer functions. When playing a scoring game it is just whoever reaches 30,000 points first rather than a turn time limit or any ability to raise that cap point number. Some high scores online number well above 160,000 points so do those players win games in three turns? Points caps online should be raised.
But that is my only real critique of this game. All around fantastic game you can play with your friends or family regardless of distance.
As a stand-alone game with no multiplayer it is still a blast to challenge yourself to get the highest scores or completely dominate your opponents.
